Information about the Event

Welcome to the 15th annual VDC 2020 Teaching and Learning Conference.

The two-day conference provides you with an exciting opportunity to learn and engage with presenters in an intimate environment, with virtual keynote sessions held via an immersive and interactive format. Attending the conference (this year held virtually) provides an opportunity for you to connect and network with your peers and reflect on your role as an educator, which is increasingly important during this period of change.

This year’s program focuses on engagement, from student engagement, to how we engage with industry.

We warmly welcome our distinguished guests and presenters for the conference, including

  • Costa Georgiadis from ABC TV show Gardening Australia, as a keynote presenter, who will speak on ‘Nurturing Vocational Pathways during times of Turbulence and Uncertainty’, sharing how we can find and build narratives of hope and opportunity.
  • Dr Selena Chan, Educational Developer, from the ARA Institute of Canterbury in New Zealand, presenting our international keynote presentation on supporting ‘Learning by Doing’ via distance learning.
  • Ryan O’Hare, CEO of Keypath Education Australia, who will share keynote presentation ‘Online Learning – Here for Good. So what is “Good”?’ providing key insights into online learning. Chemène Sinson, Consultant, Blackwater Projects, who will be the MC for the conference, and will be connecting with people throughout the event as well as leading a panel discussion with experts around interactive learning and connecting with industry.
  • Our team of highly regarded and popular VDC presenters, who will provide their insights on how VET providers and trainers can effectively teach in the current environment.
  • And in keeping with the recent tradition of conference dinner entertainment, during the breaks at the conference, comedian and impersonator, Ben Price will entertain you throughout the program.
